The five-member Lucerne Valley USD Board of Trustees voted unanimously on December 13 for President Chelsea LaGrange to continue serving in that position for the next year. The board members also voted for Vice-President Jason Hansen and Clerk Tom Courtney to continue in their respective positions.

Hansen and Courtney also were sworn into office as they won reelection after running unopposed on November 5th. Hansen was appointed to serve on the school board after the retirement of Ruben Medina in 2021. He was sworn into office on July 6, 2021. Courtney is the LVUSD’s longest-serving board member and has been elected to office eight times, serving as a trustee for 30 years.

Rounding out the board are Jessica Risler and Jim Harvey, both of whom have previously served as president.

During the meeting, Harvey proposed that the board “keep the slate.” Citing an “unspoken tradition,” he suggested LaGrange serve a second year as president.

“I think Chelsea has done a very good job,” Harvey said.
