School district nurse Havilah Casavant and bus dispatcher Rosemary Hernandez were named the December Employees of the Month at the Lucerne Valley USD Board of Trustees’ meeting on December 13th. Superintendent Peter Livingston formally presented the awards, and the Board of Trustees congratulated each awardee.

“Each day, Haviliah manages the health needs of up to 40 students, providing care for a wide range of injuries, illnesses, and some emergencies,” said Mr. Livingston, who shared the comments from Havilah’s nominators. “Despite the demanding pace, she maintains an impressive ability to stay organized, ensuring that all students receive the attention they need, when they need it. Her ability to balance this workload while also maintaining documentation and following up on care is truly remarkable.”
“What sets Haviliah apart is her ability to treat each student with kindness, respect, and understanding. No matter how busy her day becomes, she always takes the time to listen to each child and offer reassurance, creating a safe and comforting environment in the health office. Her caring approach fosters trust, and she consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that every student feels valued, and well-cared for.
“Haviliah’s work extends beyond simply treating physical ailments; she plays a critical role in our district's compliance, maintaining documentation, inputting and tracking immunizations, supporting our SARB meetings, as well as running our vision and hearing screenings.

Her exceptional service, calm demeanor, and genuine care for each student make her more than deserving of this recognition as Employee of the Month.
