Third grade teacher Carley Stiles and district employee Jose Galvan were named Employees of the Month at the December 7, 2023 meeting of the Lucerne Valley Unified School District’s Board of Trustees.
Superintendent Peter Livingston presented the award as friends and family members looked on. The two were also congratulated by board members.
Certificated- Carley Stiles
“Mrs. Stiles is a member of Leadership and guides the Elementary School’s third grade teaching team. She is collaborative and always willing to work on ways to consistently provide high quality lessons to our students,” according to the LVES administrators who nominated her for the award. “You will always see Carley working with students when you visit her room. She consistently modifies and accommodates her lesson for the students who need them. She also uses flexible seating to ensure her students are able to work in an environment most conducive learning. Carley looks at the data to ensure that all students get the appropriate levels of intervention or enrichment they need to be successful in a safe and caring environment.”
Moreover, according to Principal Joanna Mora and Assistant Principal Suzie Manley, Mrs. Stiles provides support to new staff members as well as LVES students. She is currently a mentor teacher to a new staff member this year. “She also provides teacher training for our ‘Write from the Beginning and Beyond’ curriculum. She even stepped up to train an additional group of teachers when their trainer had to go out on leave. Even though it was extra work, she knew it was important for our new teachers to be able to teach the curriculum to fidelity.”
Mrs. Stiles has also joined forces with Mrs. Klinger for Eagle Leadership. Together, they devise plans to encourage students to become the best versions of themselves. They organize events, run News from the Nest, and create an environment where school pride and involvement in extracurricular activities are the thing to do. She spent a lot of time working to craft our “Elf” themed Christmas float that was entered into the Victorville Christmas Parade. (By the way, she is already coming up with ideas for next year’s float!)

“We are grateful for Mrs. Stiles’s willingness to take on new challenges and to be a mentor, trainer, and collaborative member of our school community. Her commitment to our students, her teammates, and our overall school culture is what led us to choose her as December’s employee of the month!”
