District To Hire Five New Teachers

The Lucerne Valley Unified School District is hiring new teachers for the 2022-23 school year to meet the needs of its growing student population. Altogether five new positions were approved by the district’s Board of Trustees during its May 12th meeting.

The positions created were one elementary school physical education teacher, one high school Spanish teacher, one high school science teacher, one high school math teacher and one middle school math intervention teacher.

Some of the new teaching positions were identified as part of the community survey responses for the district’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). Also, increased math instruction, which includes an additional study period, will help those students who fell behind during the pandemic.

“There are lots of new positions to support our kids,” said Superintendent Peter Livingston, who spoke on the topic during the meeting, call the new teacher additions “exciting.”
