The Lucerne Valley Unified School District audit report for the year ended June 30, 2021 was “very close to perfect,” according to Jeanette Garcia, whose San Bernardino-based Jeanette L. Garcia & Associates has performed audits of the LVUSD for a number of years.
“I had a clean opinion,” Garcia, a Certified Public Accountant, said during the Thursday, January 13 meeting of the district’s Board of Trustees. “It was very close to perfect.”
Garcia added that the Lucerne Valley USD welcomed her in-person visits, which made preparing her audit easier.
According to her findings, instruction-related activities made up 65% of expenses. Pupil services including home-to-school transportation and food services made up 11%. Administration including data processing made up 10%, and maintenance and operations including facility acquisition and construction made up 9%. The LVUSD’s audit report showed the district’s General Fund reported a positive fund balance of $5,093,688. General revenues accounted for $13,977,940 in revenue, or 75% of all revenues. Program specific revenues in the form of charges for services, grants and contributions accounted for $4,737,052 or 25% of total revenues of $18,714,992.
