LVUSD Governing Board To Meet on Thursday

The following is a sample of items on the agenda for the June regular meeting of the Lucerne Valley Unified School District’s governing board. The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 11 at the Lucerne Valley Middle High School Media Center.
 
• The board will considering approving the 2020-23 Lucerne Valley Unified School District Emergency Plan for Infectious Disease. When the COVID 19 Pandemic hit, Lucerne Valley Unified School District created the Emergency Plan for Infectious Disease. The plan is intended to guide the district in the case of an infectious disease outbreak (including COVID 19). It is a working document and will support decision making moving forward.
 
• The board will consider a tentative agreement between Lucerne Valley Unified School District and the Lucerne Valley Teachers’ Association. The rationale: The Lucerne Valley Teachers’ Association (LVTA) and the District participated in good faith bargaining and agreed to the attached Tentative Agreement. The Tentative Agreement has been approved by LVTA.
 
• The board will consider tentative agreement between Lucerne Valley Unified School District and the California School Employees Association (CSEA) Local Chapter 743. Rationale: The California School Employees Association (CSEA) and its Local Chapter 743 and the District participated in good faith bargaining and agreed to the attached Tentative Agreement. The Tentative Agreement has been approved by CSEA.
 
• The board will consider approving the Agricultural CTE Incentive Grant Application for 2020-21.
 
• The board will consider approving the 2020-21 Lucerne Valley Unified School District Budget.
 
• The board will consider approving the Contract with the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health for School Nursing Services for the 2020-21 School Year. The agreement will allow for nursing services to include the following mandated services: 1. Hearing, 2. Hearing re-check screening, as applicable 3. Vision screening, 4. Near vision screening, 5. Color vision screening, as applicable, 6. Scoliosis.
 
• The board will consider approving the Lucerne Valley Unified School District COVID-19 Operations Written Report. Rationale: With the suspension of the LCAP to December as ordered by Governor Newsom all districts are required to submit a COVID-19 Operations Written Report. Adoption is required at the district’s June board meeting along with its budget for 2020-21.
 
• The board will consider increasing the CTE pay schedule by 2%. If CTE teacher is full time they will qualify for the current caps of Classified employees. Rationale: CTE teachers are an unrepresented group. The pay raise will be equivalent to that of other groups.
 
• The Board of Trustees will consider approving a conference request.
Danielle Hickman and Troy Van Bavel are looking to attend the State California Agriculture Teachers Association Summer Conference in San Luis Obispo on June 20-26, 2021.

• The Board of Trustees is requested to approve hiring Jessica LaVoise as a CTE Teacher at the Middle/High School, effective July 1. The Board also will consider the hiring of Steven Gaskell as a CTE Teacher at the Middle/High School, effective, August 1, 2020 pending credential authorization.
 
• The Board of Trustees will hold a Public Hearing regarding the 2020-21 Lucerne Valley Unified School District budget.
 
• A public hearing will be held regarding Granite Mountain Charter School’s petition for a material revision as required by California Education Code section 47605. Rationale: The Governing Board of Lucerne Valley Unified School District shall hold a Public Hearing on Granite Mountain Charter School's petition for a material revision. At this time, the Governing Board of Lucerne Valley Unified School District shall consider the level of support for the petition by teachers employed by the district, other employees of the district, and parents.
 
• Superintendent Peter Livingston will discuss the May final Enrollment Graph.
