Lucerne Valley Elementary School Principal Burt Umstead will be a speaker at the “Changing the Trajectory of Kids in Chaos” event in early March.
The event at High Desert Church on March 6 will feature internationally known pediatric neurodevelopmental psychologist Dr. Kiti Freier Randall. She has worked within school districts as a school psychologist and expert consultant.
Umstead, who also serves an an assistant superintendent for the Lucerne Valley USD, will share strategies for Trauma Informed Practices. Trauma-informed schools can better address the broadening spectrum of adverse childhood experiences. Moreover, trauma-informed care is critical to safe and supportive crisis intervention.
